Tasks
Further develop the modern competence centre: You will further develop KAST as the legal competence and service centre of the UI sector and work closely with the management of the public unemployment fund, LAM and RAV.
Ensure legal equality: You are responsible for the high quality of decisions made by your approx. 10 employees, for swift procedures and for language that is understandable to those affected. You represent the decisions of the AWA securely in all judicial instances.
Shape unemployment insurance: You represent AWA Basel-Stadt in projects and working groups and help shape the practice of UI together with your partners at Seco, other cantonal implementing agencies and labour market authorities in neighbouring countries.
Support politics: You independently prepare political matters in the field of unemployment insurance, draft laws and ordinance texts and provide professional support to the sector management in political matters.
Promote quality development: You actively shape the ongoing exchange with RAV and the public unemployment fund about the practical insights of your department. You plan training as needed and conduct it together with your team.
Profile
Experience: You have many years of solid experience in unemployment insurance and public employment services as well as leadership experience.
Personality: You combine a passion for legal work with the ambition to help shape the further development of unemployment insurance in Basel-Stadt. You apply your networked thinking and enjoyment of collaboration purposefully.
Education: You are a trained lawyer (MA level or PhD) and have appropriate additional and leadership training.
Language: Your written and spoken expression is clear and appropriate for the audience. Your knowledge of at least one other national language benefits you in inter-cantonal and international cooperation.

The Office for Economy and Labour (AWA) belongs to the Department of Economy, Social Affairs and Environment and is the central office of the canton for all questions concerning companies, job search and the labour market. It promotes innovation, develops new concepts and ensures fair and transparent law enforcement.
