About the job

Net zero by 2037 – that is the mandate enshrined in the Basel constitution. Basel2037 supports around 15,000 SMEs in the canton on this path. The association is supported by the Canton of Basel-Stadt and the Basel-Stadt Trade Association.

Founded a year ago, the foundation is set: initial consultations, a funding programme for sustainable innovations, a viable network of business, administration and science. Now the second phase begins. It is no longer just about developing offers, but also about scaling them.

For this task, we are looking for a Co-Manager.

Your task

Together with the existing co-management, you will lead Basel2037 – both strategically and operationally. You are responsible for the core services of consulting and funding, expanding them broadly and shaping the system that makes this scaling possible.

Lead and steer strategically

You are jointly responsible with the co-management for the strategic direction and operational implementation of all activities, with a focus on consulting and fundingYou further develop the association's fields of action and implement the vision of Basel2037 in practiceYou work closely with the board and sponsors and are responsible for budget, reporting and impact verification

Consult and scale consulting

You personally conduct initial consultations with SMEs and professionally support companies on their path to net zero – from assessing the current situation to concrete reduction measures to the mediation of suitable funding programmes at cantonal and national levelYou develop today's personal initial consultation offer into a scalable model – standardised, digitally accessible and still convincing in qualityYou build digital channels: self-assessment tools, guided online formats, group offers, AI-supported evaluationsYou manage the network of external consulting partners, brief them professionally and ensure uniform quality

Connect funding

You further develop the funding programme for sustainable innovations and link it more closely with the consulting offerYou accompany funding rounds from the call for proposals to impact evaluation

Communicate and anchor

You develop effective communication and awareness-raising measures and make Basel2037 visible in the regionYou maintain dialogue with business, administration and science and anchor the programme in the region

Organisation and processes

You optimise the operational processes and systems that make scaling possible in the first place – from CRM to automation of recurring processes

What you bring

Leadership and management experience. You have led an organisation, a company or complex projects in a demanding environment – from idea to implementation.

Business understanding. You know the reality of SMEs and meet them at eye level – whether from consulting, association, economic development or your own entrepreneurial experience.

Professional consulting competence in the area of net zero. You are familiar with greenhouse gas accounting according to the GHG Protocol, reduction pathways, climate strategies and the relevant Swiss framework conditions – confident enough to advise companies independently.

Affinity for digitalisation and AI. You recognise where technology multiplies impact and can achieve this with your knowledge in the field.

Communicative strength. You move confidently between companies, administration and the public and convey sustainability topics so that they resonate.

Calm and clarity. You keep an overview in a dynamic start-up organisation, set priorities and reliably bring things to completion. Co-leadership is a strength for you.

Education and languages. University degree or equivalent further education, ideally with an economic or sustainability focus. Fluent German and understanding of the regional business culture.
