About the job
The Department of Security and Environment, with its 440 employees, includes the areas of City Police, Protection & Intervention, Registration and Civil Status, Environmental Protection and Health Protection, as well as the City Magistrate's Office. The City Police, with over 250 employees, is committed to a safe and trustworthy Winterthur. To complement our team, the position of Head of the Administrative Police Department is to be newly filled from 1 October 2026 or by agreement.Your Tasks
- Operational leadership of the Administrative Police Department in terms of personnel, tactics, and expertise
- Assessment and preparation of legal issues for the department
- Organisation of administrative police actions and controls as well as participation in City Police operations
- Support of the Head of Department in the execution of their tasks, in managing various offices, external appearances, etc., as well as leading and participating in projects
- Deputising for the Head of Department for Permits during their absence
Your Profile
- Police training and further education with professional experience in the administrative police environment, as well as willingness for continuous training and further education
- Legal education or equivalent further training
- Experience in project management is an advantage
- Proactive leadership personality with understanding of entrepreneurial and political thinking and acting
- Convincing presence, customer-oriented approach, and excellent communication skills
