Certified Nursing Specialist HF 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly established Medical Service department ensures the medical-somatic basic care for incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organisational unit, it guarantees a harmonised and high-quality healthcare provision according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The Main Department of Remand Prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of eight main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for remand and security detention. The Zurich prison, with its 135 places, is the largest remand prison in the Canton of Zurich. Our tasks and challenges are diverse, but we master them together as a team.
For our Medical Service, we are looking for a committed and dynamic personality to start immediately or by arrangement.
This is your area of responsibility
- Accompanying and supporting incarcerated persons in daily life as well as in crisis situations
- First intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies
- Organisation and participation in somatic, psychiatric and dental consultations
- Co-designing and developing the department by contributing your professional and social skills
- Point of contact for medical questions and emergencies as well as training staff in health-related matters
- Co-responsibility for material and medication management as well as the operation of the pharmacy
- Administrative tasks such as billing and correspondence with external interfaces
- Taking on early shifts from Monday to Friday in the health service to ensure continuous care. Weekend and public holiday duties are shared within the team and occur in a rotation of four to five weeks
What you bring with you
- Completed training as a certified nursing specialist HF/FH
- Interest in the care and support of incarcerated persons of various origins and nationalities
- Flexibility, personal responsibility and a high level of social competence
- Interest in continuously expanding your knowledge in other areas of healthcare
- Very good oral and written German skills; any additional language is an advantage
- Your life experience is a valuable asset: a minimum age of 25 years rounds off your profile
- Willingness to provide needs-based support at the Pfäffikon Prison location (GFP)
- You have a clean record; that is, an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
