Internship in Asylum Affairs 6 Months, 80 - 100 % (m/f/d)
Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centres for families, individuals and unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMAS) at currently five locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the Cantonal Social Office Zurich (KSA) since March 2024.
As part of this internship, you will gain insight into the practical work at the transit centres Kollbrunn or Mattenbach (Winterthur) and actively participate in the daily healthcare and support on site.
Your tasks
- Supporting professionals in organising and ensuring medical care for refugees, including prevention
- Assisting in the accompaniment of clients with physical and mental health concerns
- Coordinating and organising medical appointments as well as communication with clients and external agencies
- Collaborating with medical practices, hospitals and other specialised agencies as well as supporting networking
- Assisting in health administration, documentation and file management
- Supporting vaccination organisation, health logistics and the management of the first aid kit
- Participating in prevention measures, health-related courses and handling of communicable diseases
- Accompanying refugees in everyday matters
- Co-responsibility for creating a good house atmosphere and compliance with house rules
Our requirements
- Completed secondary school diploma/vocational training/vocational baccalaureate and interest in gaining professional experience in the migration field
- Very good IT user skills (Office package)
- Fluent German in spoken and written form
- English/French and any other language an advantage
- Interest and quick learning ability
- Organisational skills and willingness to learn
- Patience in dealing with people
