Who are we?

The Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training EHB is the Swiss centre of expertise for vocational education and training. We train and further educate those responsible for vocational education, research vocational education, develop professions further, and support international vocational education cooperation. Our locations are in Zollikofen near Bern (headquarters), Lausanne, and Lugano, with external sites in Olten and Zurich.

"Social Arguments for the Expansion of Upper Secondary Education in Switzerland 1960 to 1980. Debates, Decisions, Impacts and Specificities at the Cantonal Level (EvoSEC)"

we are looking for a

Post-Doctoral Fellow (50%)

(Duration of employment 21 months)

in the Research & Development division in Renens VD or Zollikofen from 1 September 2026 or by agreement.

Your responsibilities

• Collaboration in the implementation of the research project, especially coordination of archival research and source analyses for the five cantons central to the project
• Close cooperation with two doctoral candidates throughout the various project phases
• Contribution to the overall analysis and summarising of results
• Independent research activities within the framework of the project
• Organisation of meetings for the multilingual team of five people and meetings with external experts
• Dissemination of results (presentations, publications, transfer)
• Participation in the administrative tasks of the project

Your profile

• Academic degree (PhD or several years of research experience) in educational science or a related discipline (especially history, sociology), specialisation in the history of education is an advantage
• Experience in the operational management of research projects
• Good knowledge of the Swiss education system, especially in the area of upper secondary education (vocational education / general education)
• Good language skills in German, French and English.
• Independent working style and strong willingness to collaborate in a team
