Birsfelden is planning and building its future! This involves numerous interesting and challenging projects in the field of civil engineering & environment. As the new head, you will lead an interdisciplinary team of four specialists. Under the overall responsibility of the Head of Technical Administration and in close cooperation with the departments of Urban Development, Building Construction, Operations Maintenance, and Water Supply, you will make a central contribution to the structural development of Birsfelden: You plan, organise, coordinate, and supervise the diverse projects in the field of civil engineering & environment.

Your further main tasks are:

• Professional, personnel, and organisational leadership of the Civil Engineering & Environment Department with the specialist units Roads & Traffic, Drainage & Multimedia Network, Environment & Energy, as well as Open Space & Nature

• Support of the plans and projects developed in the specialist units, such as interdisciplinary sponge city projects in the road area, mobility concept, as well as implementation of energy strategy, nature vision, and general drainage planning

• Coordination of projects and plans in the overall context of Technical Administration and political authorities. This requires a holistic understanding of the interrelationships and processes as well as intensive teamwork.

• Overall responsibility for multi-year planning and budgeting in the department.

• Medium-term assumption of the Drainage & Multimedia Network specialist unit is planned

Your profile:

You have a university degree (ETH/Uni/FH) in civil or environmental engineering or a related field. In your several years of professional experience, you have acquired broad experience in planning and realising complex projects, ideally also in the execution of civil engineering works. Besides your pronounced ability in leading and coordinating projects, you are also capable of working in such projects and contributing your part. You have an exceptionally fluent written and oral expression, possess high social competence as well as assertiveness, and are open to new ideas. Experience with a political environment is an advantage.
