Senior Physician or Scientific Staff Member with a Focus on Civil Protection 80%The Office of Health of the Canton of Zurich ensures a high-quality and scientifically sound healthcare provision in the Canton of Zurich. It guarantees seamless medical treatment and care and promotes the health of the Zurich population.
The cantonal medical service acts as a link between medicine, the population, and politics, tasked with promoting and monitoring public health as well as containing communicable diseases.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Senior Physician or a Scientific Staff Member in Civil Protection, 80%, starting 1 September 2026 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Professional responsibility for the field of civil protection at the interface with public health
- Conceptual development and coordination of central content in civil protection, especially in the areas of disaster medicine, CBRN protection, and medical service infrastructure
- Participation in the professional development of cantonal foundations in the context of the National Disaster Medicine Network (KATAMED)
- Coordination and collaboration with national and cantonal partners (including federal agencies, hospitals, and emergency organisations)
- Professional involvement in interdisciplinary committees, working groups, and crisis organisations of the Canton of Zurich
- Handling substantive issues, political matters, and statements in the field of public health
- Participation in the on-call service of the cantonal medical service
Your profile
- Completed studies in human medicine (CH or MEBEKO recognition) or a university degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Health Sciences, or related disciplines)
- Interest in issues of public health and health policy
- Ideally experience or strong interest in disaster medicine, civil protection, or crisis management
- Experience in leadership structures or staff work is an advantage (e.g., army, civil protection, or other emergency organisations)
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style
- High communication skills and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
