About the job
As part of the spin-off of the Vaz/Obervaz utilities into an independent public-law institution, the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz is seeking suitable individuals for the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors bears the strategic responsibility for the management of the utilities and accompanies their long-term development. The utilities include, in particular, the areas of electricity supply, water supply, wastewater/ARA and heat supply.
Profile Requirements
- Several years of leadership or board experience
- Sound knowledge and proven experience in electricity supply and/or water supply
- In-depth knowledge of the finance and accounting of an energy supply company, especially an electricity utility
- Understanding of the regulatory and economic framework conditions of energy and supply companies
- Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking as well as high integrity, independence and sense of responsibility
- Knowledge in the areas of tariff systems, cost accounting and regulatory accounting is an advantage
- Experience in corporate governance, risk management, law or public administration is an advantage
The Board of Directors should, as a whole, cover the competencies necessary for the management of the utilities, especially in the areas of electricity, water, finance/accounting, law and corporate management.
Term of Office and Activity
The term of office is two years. Re-election is possible within the framework of the applicable regulations.
The activity includes, in particular, the strategic management and supervision of the utilities, dealing with essential financial, legal and entrepreneurial issues, as well as participation in the meetings of the Board of Directors. The specific meeting effort depends on the tasks and business operations of the utilities.
The remuneration is based on the regulations established by the municipality or the responsible bodies.
Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Members of the Board of Directors must be able to perform their duties independently and in the interest of the utilities. Existing mandates, business relationships or other potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed within the application and election process.
Election Procedure
The members of the Board of Directors are elected by the municipal council on the proposal of the municipal executive.
