The Justice and Reintegration (JuWe) is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich, as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of people who have committed offenses, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation for the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.

The Bachtel Correctional Center (VZB) is one of the correctional facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in open custody of prison and alternative sentences. The VZB offers space for over 90 incarcerated individuals.

For the social service, we are looking for a committed, team-oriented, and responsible personality on a temporary basis starting February 2026 - optionally for 6 months or one year.

Your Tasks

• Support in the social-pedagogical care of the incarcerated individuals within the special department of integration execution
• Independently conducting admission interviews and drafting execution plans
• Support in providing assistance and contact mediation in the areas of work, housing, finances, and social assistance
• Creating and reviewing requests for execution openings such as outings, material and relationship leaves, and ensuring the leave process
• Administrative tasks such as general correspondence, file management, leave requests with program review, requests for conditional releases with recommendations, and execution reports
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with correctional facilities and external agencies such as the Psychiatric-Psychological Service (PPD), probation and correctional authorities, courts, migration offices, and social services
• Participation in team meetings and projects

Your Profile

• Interest in criminal law topics and willingness to engage with people in difficult situations and from different social and cultural backgrounds
• Established and communicative personality
• High psychological and physical resilience
• Initial administrative experience and pronounced organizational skills
