At Basel Precision Instrument GmbH (BASPI), we are committed to developing groundbreaking solutions for quantum technologies and are looking for a dedicated and talented person to support us as a Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Specialist in achieving our goals.
About us
BASPI is a rapidly growing provider of high-quality measurement and control devices for quantum technologies. In just six years since our founding, our ultra-stable electronics have established themselves worldwide in hundreds of research and development laboratories. As a spin-off from the University of Basel, our offices and production facilities are located in the beautiful city of Basel, just minutes from the university's main campus. Our expert electronics team works closely with the university's research groups in the fields of quantum and low-temperature physics. What this position offers you
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that the materials and components we need are ordered and delivered on time and reliably. At the same time, you will maintain relationships with our suppliers from around the world. You will be part of a team that values creativity, collaboration, diversity, and personal growth – and we place great importance on work being not only productive but also enjoyable.
Your main tasks:
Responsibility for the entire purchasing process, including timely orders and deliveries.
Building and maintaining close relationships with our suppliers based on collaboration and mutual trust.
Identifying and evaluating alternative suppliers to ensure competitive prices and high-quality materials.
Negotiating prices and contract terms to ensure high cost efficiency.
Collaborating within the team to understand needs and set priorities correctly.
Creating and managing all relevant documents, including orders and contracts.
Monitoring and managing inventory to avoid shortages or surpluses.
What we are looking for:
Completed training or relevant professional qualification in purchasing, supply chain management, or a related field.
Proven experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or a similar role.
Good German and English skills, both written and spoken (C1 level or native).
Excellent organizational skills and time management with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, combined with the ability to build sustainable partnerships.
Basic technical understanding of electronic components and processes.
High personal responsibility and the ability to take initiative.
A "can-do" mentality, with which you proactively solve problems and drive results.
Experience in a technical company is a big plus.
Experience in sales and/or export is an advantage.
Knowledge of using ERP systems and tools is a plus.
