(Junior) Machine Learning & Java Engineer

Your tasks

• Development, training and validation of models for checking performance billing, based on methods from statistics and machine learning
• Building and maintaining training and inference pipelines in Python
• Evaluation and improvement of model quality (precision/recall, traceability of results for specialist users)
• Close cooperation with subject matter experts to identify new anomaly patterns and further develop the models
• Deployment and monitoring of models in ongoing operations
• Further development and maintenance of the existing Java module for checking and statistical plausibility of inpatient performance billing
• Implementation of new test rules and optimisation of existing test logic
• Ensuring performance, maintainability and test coverage of the Java module

Your profile

• Completed studies in computer science, data science or a comparable field with relevant professional experience
• Experience in developing machine learning or statistical models, ideally in the field of anomaly or fraud detection
• Good knowledge of Python and experience with common ML frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch).
• Strong analytical skills and experience handling large data volumes
• Good practical knowledge of Java, Java frameworks, Spring Framework and Maven 
• Initial experience with CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, Git) and working with database systems is an advantage
• You confidently and practically use AI-supported development tools such as Claude Code or AI-based code reviews
• Ideally knowledge in the field of health insurance / healthcare or willingness to familiarise yourself with technical topics
• Good communication skills and enjoyment of working in interdisciplinary teams
