System Engineer Infrastructure & DevOps 80-100%
For the IT Services department, we are looking for a team-oriented, service-minded and independent individual with a precise working and structured thinking style to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your area of responsibility
Platform operation and digital specialist applications
- Operation and further development of Linux- and Docker-based platforms including basic services such as web servers, DNS, certificates, databases, mail configurations and backups as well as evaluation and integration of further open-source applications
- Technical operation, further development and support of web and specialist applications such as WordPress, Pressbooks and LimeSurvey, including updates, multisite environments, plugins and SAML connections
- Further development of automated build, test and deployment processes with Docker and GitHub Actions as well as collaboration in the further development of the platform architecture, especially in the areas of Kubernetes, central logging, monitoring and system documentation
- Improvement of security and operational stability of servers and applications through appropriate login, SSO, authorisation, patch as well as backup and recovery solutions
Infrastructure and cloud
- Operation and further development of server and virtualisation environments, including Windows and Linux servers, VMware, Citrix as well as storage and NAS solutions
- Support of Microsoft Azure resources and hybrid operating environments as well as planning and coordination of patch, update and security measures, for example with Azure Arc and LAPS
Your profile
- Completed degree in computer science (BSc) with a focus on software engineering with DevOps experience, or comparable qualification
- At least 5 years of professional experience with LAMP web servers, DNS, TLS certificates, load balancing, clusters, databases and backups
- Very good knowledge of Linux and Docker and experience with automated deployments, CI/CD and ideally with GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of IT security, SSO, identity management and authorisations
- Profound expertise in Windows Server, virtualisation (VMware) or Microsoft cloud services (Azure, Entra, Intune, M365)
- Experience with Kubernetes, monitoring or logging as well as knowledge of web application firewalls, reverse proxies or zero-trust approaches is an advantage
- Very good German and English skills
