Social Worker 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Correctional Institution (JVA) Pöschwies is one of eight main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional institution in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, takes into account the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the general public.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a responsible, resilient and independent individual as a social worker to start immediately or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Supportive and recidivism-preventive social work in sanction enforcement with incarcerated persons from diverse life backgrounds
- Active participation and coordination of enforcement planning together with internal and external specialist agencies
- Advice and support for incarcerated persons on personal, social and offence-related issues
- Conducting structured counselling sessions focusing on social reintegration and recidivism prevention
- Planning and organisation of the release situation
- Responsibility for administrative tasks such as documentation and reporting
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with internal and external partners, authorities and specialist agencies
Your profile
- Completed degree in Social Work and ideally initial professional experience in a social or institutional environment
- Responsible, team-oriented and independent personality with a professional working style
- High resilience as well as pronounced conflict and communication skills
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form; knowledge of foreign languages is an advantage
- Good IT user skills
- Minimum age of 25 years and a clean record (no entries in the criminal and debt registers)
