Job Description
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva benefits from an enriching multicultural dynamic to which it contributes through its influence within the mandates it has set itself: teaching, research and its partnership with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
In order to strengthen its dynamic team, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva is looking for a:
Scientific Assistant 2 at 100%
Attached to the Dean's Office of the Faculty, the scientific assistant will ensure the proper management and operation of the Research Centres on inflammation , diabetes , and cardiovascular diseases, providing administrative, scientific and communication support to enable the researchers involved to devote themselves exclusively to research activities.
The main tasks of this position will include:
- Understanding and analysing ongoing research projects and objectives addressed within the Centres
- Coordinating interaction between scientists and clinical doctors of the Faculty of Medicine and the HUG
- Organising and coordinating seminar series, workshops and meetings including arranging speakers and venues; managing all administrative and logistical aspects
- Ensuring visibility/communication of the Centres to external stakeholders and managing the application portal (e.g. website, publication lists, awards, prizes for Centre collaborators, event organisation, teaching for doctoral students)
- Providing support to researchers in media relations and drafting press releases; representing the Centres with funding bodies and in collaboration with the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine
- Representing the Centres at various events, external visits and presenting the Centres
- Supporting researchers with applications to national and international funding bodies
- Preparing and coordinating report and publication submissions as well as evaluation report preparation
Required Title and Skills
You hold a scientific degree in life sciences at Master’s level (PhD level is an advantage), you are fluent in French and English (at least C1 level) and have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
You have solid administrative experience in a medical or academic research environment and possess strong IT skills with proficiency in various software.
We are looking for a person who demonstrates initiative, adaptability, proactivity and flexibility, autonomy, anticipation and task prioritisation, rigour, and a strong sense of organisation.
