Do you wish to support people suffering from mental disorders with a holistic approach, taking into account the different dimensions of their social, professional and personal lives? Within the outpatient psychiatry of Biel, you work in a varied and bilingual environment where you can fully utilise your social work skills. Our interprofessional team offers competent, rapid and individualised psychiatric care to people presenting a wide range of mental disorders. As a member of the UPZ outpatient team, you work closely with specialists in the medical, psychological and nursing fields, as well as with professionals and partners from the regional network. You support our patients with social, financial, legal and professional issues and develop concrete solutions with them adapted to their daily lives. We thus offer you a varied activity, great autonomy and the opportunity to contribute sustainably to strengthening the resources of our patients, including in complex life situations.

Your tasks

• You plan, coordinate and implement support measures in the areas of employment, housing, budgeting, law and migration
• You provide psychosocial support during acute crisis situations, in close collaboration with the outpatient team
• You advise and support our patients, particularly on issues relating to social insurance law
• In your daily work, you collaborate closely with authorities, notably the Child and Adult Protection Authority (APEA) and social services, as well as with legal services, counselling centres and other specialised partners
• You draw on your experience in psychosocial support and actively contribute to maintaining and developing our high quality standards
• You support our patients individually, according to their needs, resources and situation
• You develop and maintain the network with social organisations, institutions and partner organisations, especially in the areas of housing and sheltered employment
• You work within an interprofessional team composed of doctors, psychologists and nursing professionals

Your profile

• You hold a Bachelor of Science in Social Work or an equivalent qualification
• You have solid knowledge of social law as well as good knowledge in the medico-psychiatric field
• You possess strong advisory skills and proven experience in this area
• A further qualification in social insurance law and/or continuing education in systemic approach is an advantage
• You are an open, reliable and stress-resistant person, with a good sense of humour
• You demonstrate excellent organisational skills and enjoy working independently
• Previous professional experience in psychiatry is an asset
• You are proficient in French or German and have good knowledge of the other language

The University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ) is, as a university clinic, the main centre of competence in psychiatry and psychotherapy in the capital region. It ensures psychiatric care in the canton of Bern throughout the care chain, from early detection to outpatient treatments, through day hospital care and inpatient treatments, to rehabilitation and forensic psychiatry.
