What does Star Singing mean and why do we do it?
The star of the Star Singers reminds us of the Star of Bethlehem, which led the Three Wise Men to the crib. It stands for Christ as the light of the world and for the hope he brings to all people – connected with the divine blessing for the houses visited.
Dressed as kings, queens and star bearers, we celebrated the service together at 09:30. In his sermon, Priest Karsten Riedl encouraged us to "be light for one another". This is exactly what the Star Singers of our parish put into practice: after a small refreshment at the Sunday coffee, we set off under the guidance of Deacon Bruno Gut.
We brought light and blessing to three nursing homes (Geren, Lanzeln, Wiesengrund) as well as to numerous private households. Everywhere we were warmly welcomed – with radiant faces and open hearts. Our Star Singers proclaimed the Christmas message, blessed houses and residents, and set a sign of worldwide solidarity with needy children through songs and texts.
My thanks go to you all!
Dear queens, kings and star bearers: you were simply magnificent!
A heartfelt thank you also to the parents and accompanying persons for your valuable support. I also thank the residents of the nursing homes as well as the private households for their generous donations – whether money or sweet gifts.
Dear children, dear parents: through the Star Singers 2026 campaign, a wonderful community has been created. I look forward to it growing further and to continuing this beautiful tradition next year. Please already note the date for the next Star Singing: Sunday, 10 January 2027.
Thank you very much and God’s blessing
