Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer (Geneva - Switzerland)
Join the FIA Simulation and Performance team and take on a role where technology meets the strategic evolution of the world's most prestigious motorsport championships!
As a Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to directly contribute to shaping the future of Formula 1 and other Single-Seater series (F2, F3, F4, Regional).
In this newly created role you will drive lap-time and vehicle dynamics simulation studies, and your expertise will support the development of the cars and regulations that define the next era of motorsport. You will report to the Head of Performance & Simulation.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vehicle Dynamics Simulation for Formula 1:
- Build and maintain a robust, correlated vehicle model database with the available trackside data.
- Deliver pre-event simulations to support the FIA’s Single-Seater technical team during events.
- Integrate and enhance advanced power unit and tyre models for regulatory and performance studies.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess regulation impacts on performance and safety.
- Create and adapt bespoke simulation tools (energy management, active aero deployment, etc.) to meet evolving project needs.
Support for Junior Single-Seater Categories (F2, F3, F4, Regional):
- Assist the Technical Manager with targeted simulation studies.
- Ensure the vehicle model database is continuously updated with the latest technical data.
Collaboration Across FIA Technical Groups:
- Work closely with specialists in aerodynamics, chassis, powertrain, and electronics.
- Translate simulation results into actionable insights that guide car design regulations and competitive balance.
PROFILE:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years of experience in simulation or performance engineering in motorsports or automotive would be considered a strong asset
- A strong foundation in vehicle dynamics, automotive subsystems, and motorsport technologies.
- Familiarity with lap-time simulation platforms and experience with data analysis and performance evaluation techniques.
- Competence in programming (Python, Matlab, VBA, C, etc.) or a strong motivation to deepen these skills.
- A humble, collaborative, and analytical mindset with a natural tendency to critically question results and a strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities. Fluency in English is required.
The position requires occasional travel (up to 5 FIA events/year) to support studies at races, tests, and regulatory meetings.
