The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation is a partnership institution, funded by the Canton and the municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural and associative field actions carried out by centres and outreach teams, the foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, quality of life, with a general aim of preventing social exclusion.

A position for a 75% sociocultural animator is open within the Undertown space (Meyrin).

Undertown is a Meyrin-based sociocultural animation association whose main audience is the youth of Meyrin and, more broadly, the youth of the Geneva region. Its aim is to promote social cohesion through the organisation of cultural events (concerts, dance battles, etc.) as well as creative workshops (hip-hop, video, dance) throughout the school year.

During the summer period, it focuses its action outside the walls to meet the population through ephemeral projects such as a travelling cinema or outdoor stages. The connection with youth is the cornerstone of Undertown's action and tends to radiate to a wider population through shared artistic interests.

Job Description

• Carry out animation work within a venue aimed at teenagers, young adults (15 - 25 years) and the general public; ensure the follow-up of workshops and the management of cultural events;
• In partnership with municipal services, participate in the animation of the neighbourhood through a meeting and concert space, as well as workshops open to all;
• Actively participate in the programming of events, communication and follow-up of the institutional project, according to the division within the team and in consultation with the committee;
• Develop youth participation, as well as associative life in the municipality;
• Participate in logistical tasks related to activities, premises and equipment;
• Assume management tasks related to activities within a small team, notably the supervision of "small jobs" and monitors.

Qualifications

• Experience in sociocultural animation, preferably with teenagers and young adult audiences;
• Knowledge of or interest in the Geneva cultural network, event organisation, interest in various styles of contemporary music;
• Ability to work in a team, in a network and autonomously;
• Skills in managing cultural-type projects, initiative, versatility, interest in working during concert evenings and bringing the venue to life;
• Organisational and planning skills, ability to manage priorities, deadlines and emergencies;
• Good knowledge of the Geneva social system and the functioning of FASe: openness to working within the framework of regionalisation;
• Ability to use common computer software, as well as to train in the use of specific IT tools for managing Undertown and its programming.
