Helvetas is a Swiss organization for international development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Our goal is a just world where all people live self-determined in dignity and security, use natural resources sustainably, and care for the environment. Media work in Switzerland is an important part of Helvetas' work and part of the Marketing & Communications department.

To support our media work and communication in Zurich, we are looking for a university intern from mid-September 2026 for one year

YOUR ROLE

You make an important contribution to high-quality and continuous media work of Helvetas and support the visibility of our topics and experts in relevant media. In addition, you actively participate in professional digital communication – especially by updating the website and distributing content via newsletters and social media. Depending on the need, you also flexibly contribute to other activities within the communication team.

YOUR TASKS

• You write and send press releases
• You research journalistically interesting topics from Helvetas countries and areas of work that can be proposed to the media
• You research and formulate public-relevant "Questions & Answers"
• You monitor what is happening on a geopolitical level and how the media report on development cooperation, policy, humanitarian work, and Helvetas
• You assist in responding to media inquiries
• You work at the interface of media work, political communication, and digital communication (writing social media posts, supporting
• the sending of newsletters and managing the website, working on the intranet, etc.)
• You support media work in planning and administrative matters

OUR REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree) in media, communication sciences, or a similar field
• Very good knowledge of the Swiss media landscape
• Good knowledge in social media, experience with CMS systems is an advantage
• Quick comprehension and efficiency as well as the ability to quickly summarize complex matters to the essentials and communicate them clearly
• Confident German as well as good French and English skills. Italian or Spanish skills are a plus
• Good user knowledge of office programs and online communication
• Initiative, independent, open, reliable, and precise person who keeps an overview even in hectic situations and enjoys working with different people
• Interest in international development cooperation and humanitarian aid
