Team Leader Custodial Services 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 staff with diverse professional profiles. JuWe is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For JuWe employees, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Remand Prisons Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for remand and security detention. One of these facilities is Winterthur Prison (GFW), which manages its tasks with a staff of around 49 employees and offers space for 92 detainees and 9 places for provisional arrest.
For our custodial services, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a committed, strong leadership and responsible personality as team leader.
This is your field of activity
- You take over the professional and personnel leadership of your team and implement the leadership principles of Correctional Services and Reintegration Zurich with conviction and clarity
- As a member of the management team, you actively shape the further development of custodial services and contribute your ideas and experience
- Coordination and organisation of the operational daily business as well as deputising for the custodial management are part of your varied responsibilities
- With a trained eye, you recognise potential crisis situations and emergencies early and initiate the necessary measures to ensure the safety of all involved
- You promote teamwork and support your employees specifically in their professional and personal development
- Your work deployment includes day, weekend and public holiday shifts; in exceptional cases also at night, complemented by taking on on-call duties
What you bring with you
- You have a completed federal vocational certificate (EFZ), a (specialist) baccalaureate or an equivalent qualification. Initial leadership experience or completed leadership training is an advantage
- Ideally, you have completed training as a correctional officer with a federal specialist certificate
- Very good German skills as well as knowledge of at least one other language distinguish you, as does confident handling of common IT applications
- Resilience, assertiveness, conflict competence and a confident appearance are among your particular strengths
- A positive attitude towards people as well as motivation to actively help shape a development-oriented remand detention
- You are at least 25 years old and have an impeccable record (no entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers)
