The position is attached to the  Diagnostic Department . This department, composed of nine medical services, is tasked with providing diagnostics, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialised clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best possible timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.

The  Radiology Service , with its 300 employees, has as its main mission the performance of diagnostic radiology examinations and therapeutic interventions guided by various imaging techniques, as well as radiation protection within the operating theatres. This clinical activity includes approximately 250,000 examinations and 5,000 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per year, a significant portion of which is provided on a 24/7 basis. The medical team of the Radiology Service also organises more than 300 multidisciplinary meetings per month, on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.

Job Description

The increasing number of radioscopic installations in the operating theatres offers considerable benefits to patients while raising significant radiation protection challenges.

Thus, as part of the initiative to strengthen radiological safety within the eight operating theatres attached to the Nursing Directorate, you will join the Radiology Service as a radiation protection expert. As the driving force behind this new role, you are responsible for implementing and continuously improving medical imaging practices.

You ensure the application of best radiation protection practices to guarantee the safety of patients and staff. You work particularly on optimising radiological techniques during the most irradiating interventions such as 3D fluoroscopy and the O-Arm, in collaboration with the radiation protection and medical physics group. Together, you contribute to developing innovative strategies and solutions by proactively proposing measures aimed at enhancing the safety of all persons present in the intervention room.

You work closely with surgeons, instrument technicians, and operating theatre assistants. Your ability to manage stress effectively and prioritise tasks is essential in this dynamic environment.

Thanks to your interpersonal skills, you provide valuable support by training and assisting users of increasingly complex and diverse mobile fluoroscopy equipment. In doing so, you help improve image quality while minimising radiation doses delivered to patients and staff.

Specialised training will be offered to strengthen your skills in using fluoroscopy devices, as well as to familiarise you with the specificities of working in operating theatres and the fundamental principles of radiation protection.

Qualifications

You hold a diploma as a medical radiology technician (TRM) HES or an equivalent recognised and registered qualification by the Swiss Red Cross, with a minimum of three years’ experience in this field.

Additional training as a radiation protection expert, recognised by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), is an advantage.

You are proficient with the necessary computer tools for documentation and communication such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

You know how to manage stress when faced with multiple simultaneous demands while demonstrating your interpersonal ease and problem-solving ability.

You are autonomous yet capable of working in a team, showing initiative and adaptability. A forward-looking attitude and communication skills are essential qualities for establishing this position.

Additional Information

You will mainly work daytime hours during the week, with occasional night and weekend shifts depending on service needs.
