Our client, a leading international life sciences organisation based in Zurich, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager Europe to join its regional tax team on a 6-month contract.

Job description:
This position will play a key role in advising and managing the company's tax affairs across a portfolio of European countries, including Eastern Europe. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to Finance and business stakeholders, overseeing tax compliance, tax audits, transfer pricing matters, tax accounting, and tax risk management while ensuring alignment between local and global tax objectives.
The start date is the 13th of July 2026, so we will only be able to consider candidates who can be available to start on that date.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality tax support and advice to Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, HR, Business Development, and senior management teams across the countries within scope.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external tax authorities.
- Lead and coordinate corporate income tax compliance activities in collaboration with shared service teams and external tax advisors.
- Manage and defend tax audits, ensuring effective communication and coordination with tax authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks.
- Monitor legislative developments and assess their impact on the business.
- Coordinate transfer pricing matters, including documentation and adjustments, in collaboration with specialist teams.
- Review contracts, transactions, and business initiatives from a tax perspective.
- Support tax accounting processes and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Drive process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce complexity across tax operations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
- Advanced qualification in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or Law is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an international tax role, ideally within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or Big Four environment.
- Strong knowledge of corporate taxation and tax regulations across Europe, including Eastern European jurisdictions.
- Solid understanding of tax accounting principles.
- Experience managing tax audits and working directly with tax authorities.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Fluent English is required; German would be advantageous.
- Available immediately or ability to start on the 13th of July.
