The Wittenbach municipal council is holding a public participatory workshop on the educational development of the primary school on 6 September 2025 in the Steig sports hall. 116 people have registered.
The educational development of the Wittenbach primary school has been critically questioned from various sides in recent months. The focus was on, among other things, mixed-age learning, changed roles of teachers, new teaching methods, and organisational questions.
The municipal council takes this criticism seriously. It wants to better involve the citizens and therefore invited – with a registration deadline of 11 July – all interested persons to a public workshop. This will take place on Saturday, 6 September 2025 with 116 participants in the Steig sports hall.
Eight concrete questions
At the beginning of the day, those present express in small groups what they expect from the workshop day and what they themselves would like to contribute to its success. This is followed by a short keynote speech from the school management: The school leadership provides an overview of how societal changes affect the school and why the further development of the primary school is a constant task. At table islands, the citizens will then discuss concrete questions – around the school, school development, and political participation. The participants’ answers will be recorded in writing. After the workshop, the municipal council will evaluate the results and decide on the further procedure.
Responsible dialogue desired
The municipal council hopes that this dialogue will increase mutual understanding between the population, politics, and the school. The event will be moderated by neutral experts from the visias consulting network from Zurich. The municipal council cannot yet fulfil the wish for concrete figures on the financial impact of certain parts of the school development. Corresponding calculations are in preparation. The municipal council is pleased about the interest in the workshop and wishes for a responsible, constructive dialogue.
