About the job
A conductor stands in front of the orchestra and sets the tone with the baton. A bandleader stands right in the middle, plays along, counts in – and listens carefully to know when it’s time for others’ solos.
That’s exactly the person we are looking for: someone to lead our family-oriented marketing and fundraising agency into the next generation. With groove, with conviction, and with joy in the shared sound.
The Band
asm Fundraising AG has been playing for non-profit organisations, foundations, and public institutions for more than 40 years – on stages throughout Switzerland and in several languages. Our 20 musicians master a wide range of instruments: strategy, creation, data, and fundraising.
What holds us together is not a sheet of music, but a shared attitude. Reliability, respect, and the commitment to serve the cause are the fundamental tone on which everything is built. When planning the tour, the board of directors is on board: as sparring partners who listen, think along, and help shape the shared sound.
Your Role in the Band
- Keep the groove: You set the strategic direction, think ahead, and develop the agency’s repertoire together with the board of directors.
- Play along instead of conducting: You stand in the middle of the team, lead appreciatively and with strong implementation skills, and embody our values – out of conviction, not obligation.
- Enable solos: You recognise talents, nurture and coach them, delegate gladly, and blend individual voices into new sounds.
- Compile the setlist: You manage the client portfolio according to profitability and complexity, win new mandates, and recognise which pieces fit together.
- Keep in time: You have a firm grasp of numbers, key figures, and controlling, use contract models flexibly, and ensure structures that work even without you.
- Dare new pieces: You question the status quo, drive digitalisation forward, and create space for improvisation – without losing sight of the final chord.
- Stand on stage: You represent the agency credibly externally and remain calm when a string breaks.
What You Bring
Your Instrument Case
- Tertiary-level degree (FH or university), ideally with CAS or MBA
- Experience as a managing director or member of executive management
- Fundraising understanding and a network in the NPO and philanthropy sector
- Solid business management skills, negotiation skills, and project management experience
- Digital judgement that does not lose sight of people – with a fine ear for critical questions and feedback
- Understanding of the interplay within federalist Switzerland
- Fluent in German and French, very good in English; Italian is your bonus
Your Sense of Rhythm
- You feel at home in a family business and enjoy playing in an ensemble.
- You are honest, loyal, and reliable – the music is more important than your own applause.
- You listen before you play: with high emotional intelligence and sensitivity to constellations.
- You find the right tone for every audience – from the Federal Councillor to the cleaning staff.
- You make complex things sound simple and create clarity when it gets loud.
- You are curious, courageous, and seek advice when a part is new.
What We Offer You
- Your place on stage: the centre of a well-rehearsed, interdisciplinary band
- A repertoire with meaning: mandates for organisations that advance society and the environment
- Freedom for new arrangements: plenty of creative freedom and a careful handover – we play the first pieces together
- A rehearsal room with the best acoustics: central location in Zurich and modern office infrastructure
- Breaks between concerts: 5 or 6 weeks’ holiday so you return to the stage with fresh energy
- A sound that resonates – even after the last tour: attractive personal insurance, especially strong occupational pension plans, with contributions mostly covered by us
