Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you lead processes that ensure the efficiency, reliability, and performance of automated production plants, production lines, and technical facilities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This also includes our new, state-of-the-art automated battery pack factory, which complements our existing battery module and pack lines as well as converter lines.
You ensure that maintenance strategies, technical documentation, and improvement initiatives guarantee high plant availability, operational excellence, and the optimal use of technical and financial resources. Additionally, you work closely with production development to strengthen team redundancy and continuously advance highly automated manufacturing processes.
The working model for this position is onsite.
The role contributes to the Traction Operations area in Untersiggenthal and Baden. Key stakeholders include ABB Energy Storage Systems and the converter production.
Your main tasks
Partial or full leadership of the maintenance group in the Traction Operations area, including coordination of maintenance activities as well as support of team performance and development.
Definition and implementation of maintenance strategies and plans for automated production lines to improve reliability, maintainability, and safety of plants and facilities.
Introduction, further development, and maintenance of CMMS systems as well as ensuring correct and up-to-date technical documentation of all production plants and systems.
Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems in automated production lines to ensure high plant availability and stable production performance.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives by planning and implementing projects for process optimisation, reduction of maintenance effort, and increase of operational efficiency – in close collaboration with production development engineers.
You will be part of an ambitious and high-performing production team operating highly automated systems. Collaboration, technical expertise, and continuous improvement are key to our success.
Qualifications for this role
Extensive experience in industrial maintenance of automated production plants, including electrical, mechanical, and automation technology
Good knowledge of automation technologies such as PLC programming, robotics, sensors, industrial communication networks, and automated production systems
Experience with maintenance concepts, troubleshooting, CMMS systems, machine diagnostics, and methods to increase reliability (e.g. OEE optimisation, Lean Manufacturing)
Understanding of production engineering principles or willingness to learn them to ensure team redundancy and cross-departmental support
Completed training or proven qualification in electrical engineering, automation technology, mechatronics, or a comparable technical field – alternatively, relevant practical industrial experience
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving competence to identify causes and implement sustainable technical improvements
Very good communication skills in German
