Scientific Assistant in the Field of Spatial Data Collection 80-100% (m/f/d)
The research unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology investigates the diversity of life in its various forms, from genetic diversity to species and habitat diversity as well as their interactions. As part of the project "RAVEN" of the National Research Program "Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (NFP 82)", the group Habitat Dynamics is looking for a position starting November 1, 2025 or by agreement, limited to 1 year.
You will collect national and cantonal data for two regions in Switzerland related to the promotion of biodiversity in agriculture, forests, and settlements, which will be incorporated into a project on social learning. You will conduct qualitative and quantitative spatial data analyses and prepare the results for workshops with various stakeholders and researchers. You will communicate your findings to internal and external stakeholders and participate in the development of a system model.
You hold a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, or related fields and have very good knowledge in ecology. Additionally, you have experience in data collection and solid knowledge of data analysis with GIS and spatial analyses in R. You are skilled in presenting your work to various stakeholders and have a strong interest in transdisciplinary research. Very good German and English skills are essential. You are proactive, committed, and communicative, enjoy working independently as well as in an international and interdisciplinary team.
