Chemical Laboratory Technician at the Quality Control Unit in the Pharmacy Service
The Directorate of the Department of Interdisciplinary Centres (DCI) is seeking a chemical laboratory technician at 80%–100% for the Quality Control Unit of the Pharmacy, under a permanent contract. The starting date is planned for 1 January 2027, or as agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Pharmacy Service has the following missions:
- manufacture and supply of pharmaceutical products
- promotion of the rational use of medicines
- teaching and research in hospital pharmacy
The Quality Control Laboratory Unit plays an essential role at the CHUV Pharmacy by ensuring the quality and safety of batch-produced medicines intended for patients of our institution.
Mission
- You perform physico-chemical analyses of raw materials, packaging items, and finished products, and ensure the transmission of results obtained within a GMP framework
- You contribute to quality system management: report writing, drafting and correcting analytical procedures, as well as drafting non-conformity declarations
- You participate in managing laboratory reagent and consumable stocks
- You manage logbooks, instruments, and laboratory equipment
- You contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory and internal projects
- You carry out assigned non-routine analyses, including the development of new methods and validation of analytical methods, mainly by UHPLC-UV.
Profile
- You hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a chemical laboratory technician or an equivalent qualification
- You have experience and good knowledge of physico-chemical analytical techniques (IR spectrophotometers, UV-VIS spectrophotometers, endotoxins, particle counters in liquids, etc.)
- You master chromatographic methods, especially UHPLC-UV/MS
- Ideally, you have experience in microbiology (sterility tests, bioburden controls)
- You have a good knowledge of GMP and quality principles
- You are comfortable with IT tools (Microsoft Office) and quality management systems
- You demonstrate scientific rigour, curiosity, and critical thinking
- You have good communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to take initiative.
Depending on the candidate’s profile, the salary scale will be between levels 4 and 6.
