Our Department at Bern University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a innovative research project in the field chemical biology, enzyme engineering and biocatalysis.
Your tasks
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
- Execution of innovative research projects in the field chemical biology, enzyme engineering and biocatalysis
- Development and expansion of the state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure
- Support in teaching organic chemistry (OC I & II) exercises, supervision of internships, Bachelor's and Master's theses
Your profile
You are an independent, curious, creative, and ambitious team player who enjoys interdisciplinary science, mastering new things, and rigorous experimental work. You possess:
- PhD degree in organic chemistry or biochemistry with a strong track record
- Strong background in organic synthesis, preferably with experience in nucleotide chemistry
- Solid experience with common analytical and purification methods (e.g., NMR, UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, MS).
- Experience in (computational) protein engineering, biochemical reactions, molecular biology and enzyme assay development is desirable.
- Good command of written and spoken English
