Summary
The CBC Process Specialist is responsible for the GMP-compliant processes of the cell banks managed by the Basel Cell Bank Center (manufacturing, storage, inventory, shipping).
The Process Specialist is the first point of contact for questions and issues related to CBC operations at Basel BDSS.
About the Role
Main Responsibilities:
- Execution and support of all production processes in compliance with GMP, HSE, environmental and safety guidelines, including taking on the tasks of an equipment operator.
- Ensuring smooth production flow by operating, cleaning, preparing, sterilising and monitoring equipment, rooms and auxiliary facilities.
- Performing sampling, in-process controls, environmental monitoring and other quality-relevant activities to ensure product quality.
- Responsibility for complete, timely and GMP-compliant documentation, including batch records, logbooks, SAP bookings and production-related records.
- Ensuring availability of consumables, operating materials and production resources, as well as supporting production planning and resource management.
- Monitoring equipment performance, early detection of deviations and initiating and coordinating appropriate immediate actions in case of technical malfunctions or operational deviations.
- Supporting investigations of deviations, especially human errors, and collaborating with experts and quality assurance for root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Promoting a strong GMP, quality, safety and 5S culture through consistent adherence to and implementation of applicable standards on the shop floor.
- Ensuring effective communication and coordination between production, quality, engineering and other interfaces to support smooth operations.
- Supporting team and operational performance by organising operational activities, batch releases of intermediates, problem-solving and continuous optimisation of processes and resources to achieve production goals.
Minimum Requirements:
- Technical qualification; university degree (chemical engineering, pharmaceutical technology, biotechnology, biochemistry) desired for some technology platforms or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of completed professional experience as an Equipment Specialist or 10 years in the fields of chemicals/food/pharmaceuticals/biotechnology/aseptic manufacturing or development.
- Fluency in the local language of the site. Intermediate knowledge of English.

The salary range for the position is CHF 62,090 - 115,310 per year.
