About the job

The Foundation of the Evangelical Society of the Canton of Zurich ( www.stiftung-eg.ch ) has been committed to people in difficult life situations for over 175 years. Throughout its long history, organisations such as the Herberge zur Heimat, the Zollikerberg Hospital, the Dargebotene Hand, Café Yucca and Isla Victoria were founded. The evangelical schools of Zurich and the Theological Publishing House Zurich also originated from the Evangelical Society. Our latest projects are the Saint Anna Forum, the social laundrette "Bubbles of Happiness" and the future residence for students in emergency situations.

The foundation owns and manages seven properties in Zurich. The rental income is used for the operational implementation of the four own projects as well as the targeted support of further innovative projects such as the Malaika Refugee Theatre, Social Fabric or MateriaBona. The Evangelical Society has repeatedly initiated, developed and accompanied projects into independence. With the resources freed up, new ideas could be developed and implemented each time. To maintain this innovative strength of the Evangelical Society, we are looking for two motivated and committed individuals as of 1 January 2027:

Foundation Board Member

Your Tasks

• Together with the entire foundation board, you are responsible for the strategic management of the Evangelical Society.
• As part of the foundation board, you are responsible for personnel planning (foundation board, management), financial planning (medium-term financial planning, budget, annual financial statements) and compliance monitoring.
• You periodically review the foundation's policies and strategy, regulations and guidelines, the organisation, efficiency and effectiveness of the foundation's activities as well as the performance of the management and the foundation board.
• You ensure the appropriate handling of foundation-specific risks.
• You use your network to support the foundation's activities.

Your Profile

• We are looking for a flexible, humorous and communicative leader who can identify with the tasks and goals of the Evangelical Society.
• You complement the current competence profile of the foundation board with your experience either in the area of "Entrepreneurship/Finance" or "Residential Social Work/Home Management".
• You are characterised by financial and analytical know-how and think entrepreneurially.
• You promote team spirit, act decisively even in complex situations and keep the foundation's goals firmly in view.
• We wish for a person with a good network in Zurich and the surrounding area.

The effort for this activity includes participation in 4-6 meetings per year (each 2.5 hours), corresponding preparation and follow-up times as well as active engagement outside the meetings.
