Biology Laboratory Technician 80 - 100%The Cantonal Laboratory Zurich is responsible for monitoring compliance with legislation on food, chemicals, tobacco products and solariums in the canton of Zurich. For this purpose, food and consumer goods are tested in the laboratory and businesses are inspected. To fulfil this important task, we have a modern, well-equipped and accredited laboratory (ISO 17025) as well as an accredited inspection body (ISO 17020).
To strengthen our team in microbiology, we are looking for a laboratory technician 80 - 100% immediately or by arrangement, limited until 30.09.2027. If the framework conditions develop accordingly, there is the possibility of later conversion into a permanent employment relationship.
Your main tasks
- Independent execution of microbiological analyses of water and other foods in routine analysis
- Handling of samples from registration to evaluation of laboratory results
- Active participation in the maintenance and operation of the laboratory
- Organisational support of the team management
Your profile
- Training as a laboratory technician or a comparable education with corresponding expertise
- Experience with microbiological analyses, ideally of water and other foods
- Experience with molecular biological methods such as PCR is desirable
- Knowledge of a quality management system according to ISO 17025 is an advantage
- You enjoy working in the routine analysis of a microbiological laboratory
- You recognise organisational contexts and contribute proactively to smooth laboratory operations
- You actively integrate into a team and work constructively with different people
- You support decisions, are responsible and characterised by precise working methods
- Good knowledge of German is expected
