The Agricultural Centre St.Gallen (LZSG) is part of the Agricultural Office. It fulfils a versatile mandate in agricultural advisory services as well as in training and further education.
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic leader as of 1 December 2026 or by arrangement for the position of
Head of Department Arable and Special Crops (m/f/d)
Workload: 80-90%
Workplace: Salez
What to expect
- Personnel and professional management of the department with the specialist offices for arable farming, bees, vegetable, berry, fruit and viticulture, as well as plant health
- Active participation in the management of the LZSG
- Independent leadership of the vegetable growing specialist office with practical advisory activities
- Management or support of cross-departmental projects on quality production, sustainable resource management, and innovations along the value chain
- Management of practical trials
- Teaching in agricultural basic education and in higher vocational education at the Vocational and Further Education Centre (BZBS) at the Buchs and Flawil locations
What distinguishes you
- Completed Master’s degree as an agronomist ETH/FH
- Several years of professional and leadership experience in a comparable position
- Experience in managing and implementing projects
- Methodical-didactic knowledge desired
- Enthusiasm for leading employees, enjoyment in working with farming families, project partners from research, course participants, and young people in training
