The position is attached to the Nursing Directorate. The Nursing Directorate embodies the authority in nursing matters. Its mission is to guarantee the quality and safety of care within the establishment. As such, the Nursing Directorate has oversight over all nursing activities (nurses and various health professional bodies). To fulfil its mission, it relies on three centres of expertise: quality, sustainability and digital innovation; clinical expertise and professional practices; management and transformation.

The social service consists of several committed teams working in an environment rich in interprofessional collaboration. You will work with hospitalised patients or those in consultation facing social, administrative, psychological or family difficulties, requiring a social assessment and close support related to their care situation.

Job Description

As a social worker within the HUG, you will work with patients in the geriatrics and rehabilitation department using a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. You will ensure the social follow-up of hospitalised patients, particularly in neurorehabilitation units.

Your role involves assessing the social needs of patients and their relatives, identifying social difficulties and proposing appropriate solutions. You will handle administrative and financial requests and support patients in their efforts to remain at home, undergo rehabilitation, or transition to another facility (nursing homes, care structures). You will work closely with the internal multidisciplinary team as well as external partners.

Your work is based on individual and family interviews and multidisciplinary meetings to establish a trusting relationship with patients, understand their situation and develop concrete, personalised solutions. You are also responsible for the rigorous communication of patients’ social needs and plans to the care team and external partners.

Finally, you actively participate in professional monitoring on social and legislative topics, particularly social insurance, and in the prevention of social problems. You are involved in the continuous improvement of practices within the service.

Qualifications

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Social Work or an equivalent qualification. Holding a CAS as a trainer practitioner and/or a Federal Diploma in social insurance is an asset.

You possess solid knowledge of the social network in the Geneva area as well as social insurance. Experience in social work in a hospital setting and/or geriatrics is also an advantage.

With excellent interpersonal skills, you appreciate interdisciplinary work and are comfortable managing complex and emotionally demanding situations.

Organised, you know how to manage priorities, work autonomously and have excellent writing skills. You are also proficient with common computer tools.
