Inspector of Professions
Office of Vocational Training | 90 % | Chur
The Office of Vocational Training (UCFP) is a service of the Department of Education, Culture, and Environmental Protection (DECA) and implements the training policy mandates of the Confederation and the Canton in the field of basic vocational training. It is also a center of competence in matters related to career choice, schooling, and studies, as well as an authority that accompanies individuals throughout their professional careers.
The training supervision section provides advice to apprentices and training companies as well as to other stakeholders such as holders of parental authority, basic vocational schools, organizers of inter-company courses, professional associations, and expert examiners, and serves as a reference service for questions related to the apprenticeship relationship. In addition, it transmits training content within the framework of courses for trainers, exercises supervision over company training, prepares positions, and is responsible for the operation of web applications specific to vocational training.
For the Office of Vocational Training, we are looking for an inspector of professions (90 %) starting January 1, 2026, or at a date to be agreed upon.
Responsibilities
- Improving the quality of training in training companies through technical support/business coaching
- Exercising supervision in the professions/regions assigned to them (particularly basic vocational training organized as school training) in accordance with federal and cantonal legislation
- Clarifying the prerequisites for granting permits to train apprentices in the assigned professions, approving and drafting apprenticeship and practice contracts
- Providing information and advice to apprentices, holders of parental authority, and companies regarding issues related to basic vocational training
- Advising adults on the qualification procedure and preparing the corresponding decisions
- Participating as a speaker in courses for trainers and events
- Preparing positions/decisions concerning basic vocational training
- Responsible for applications for the verification, maintenance, and development of web applications specific to vocational training
What we expect from you
- Successfully completed basic vocational training with professional development (e.g., higher professional examination or equivalent training)
- Experience as a trainer or expert examiner
- Ideally, a coaching qualification (e.g., CAS) or equivalent qualification
- Authorization to conduct courses for adults or willingness to obtain such authorization through professional development
- In-depth knowledge of the Swiss education system, particularly basic vocational training, including regulatory acts and their application
- Excellent IT skills and a high affinity for IT technologies
- You are a motivated person, capable of working in a team, solution-oriented, able to handle large workloads, and possess excellent communication skills
- You present yourself as a competent and positive person
- Efficient, independent, flexible, and responsible working method
- Excellent oral and written German skills
- Knowledge of a second, possibly a third cantonal language is welcome
