Head of Construction Department 100 %

The city of Sursee is continuously evolving. As Head of Construction, you actively shape the structural future of our city. You take responsibility for the sustainable development and preservation of the value of our infrastructure and lead diverse projects from concept to implementation.

What you can achieve:

• You lead the Construction Department with its specialised areas of building construction, civil engineering, supply and disposal, as well as the municipal works service, in terms of expertise, personnel and strategy.
• You are responsible for the planning, development and realisation of conversions and new builds of municipal properties as well as municipal transport facilities.
• You coordinate the structural and operational maintenance of the infrastructure, taking into account sustainability, cost-effectiveness and preservation of value.
• You manage demanding construction projects, are responsible for public procurement and contribute to the preparation of budgets, task and financial plans as well as multi-year programmes. You coordinate municipal supply and disposal.
• You represent the city in expert committees, commissions and regional working groups.

What you bring with you:

• Advanced professional training in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, site management or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of practical experience in planning and implementing construction projects – ideally with responsibility for construction sites, site management or construction supervision.
• Leadership experience and enjoyment in supporting employees and achieving goals together.
• A networked way of thinking, strong communication skills and confident demeanour as well as political acumen and understanding of municipal decision-making processes.
• Organisational talent, decisiveness and interest in sustainable solutions for urban development.
