The Parks and Gardens section includes a head gardener, two deputies, and around forty permanent collaborators, including apprentices. It is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of parks, green spaces, streets and squares, municipal flower displays, horticultural production, management of playgrounds, street furniture and fountains, as well as the upkeep of emblematic sites such as Montorge, Valère, and Tourbillon.

To strengthen its team, the City of Sion is advertising the position of

Horticulturist - Landscape Specialist in Creation M/F 80-100%

within the Urban Planning and Mobility department, Parks and Gardens section.

Main Responsibilities

Within the creation sector, you actively participate in the realisation and development of the City of Sion’s outdoor facilities. In this capacity, you will notably be required to:

• create and renovate green spaces and various landscape developments;
• carry out masonry work related to the landscaping profession;
• plant vegetation according to best practices;
• construct playgrounds, water features, and automatic irrigation systems;
• read and implement development plans;
• use and maintain machines specific to landscaping work, respecting safety regulations;
• occasionally assist with the maintenance of public green spaces;
• assist and replace the team leader in their absence, particularly in managing worksites and the team;
• contribute to the training and support of apprentices.

Employment Conditions

• hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a horticulturist-landscaper;
• have completed training in site signalling;
• have several years of experience in landscape creation and development;
• possess good knowledge of the machines used in the field and their mechanics;
• master reading and executing plans as well as precise calculation of surfaces and volumes;
• demonstrate autonomy and a good team spirit, as well as flexibility, stress resistance, and a strong sense of responsibility;
• enjoy sharing knowledge, especially with apprentices;
• be comfortable with common IT tools and using a tablet or smartphone for report preparation;
• hold a driving licence for motor vehicles;
• machine operator licences M1/M2 and forklift licence R1 are an advantage.

Salary
