About the job
Polymechanic ApprenticeshipThe apprenticeship lasts 4 years and leads to the Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC).
Theoretical training:
Courses are held at the Technical and Vocational School (EPTM) in Sion one or two days per week.
Practical training:
The first 2 years of your apprenticeship will take place at the workshop-school of the Intercantonal Professional School of Chemistry (EPIC) in Monthey. The last 2 years will be spent in a company at CIMO, under the responsibility of a trainer.
The inter-company courses (CIE) take place at the Technical and Vocational School (EPTM) in Sion.
At the end of the first 2 years at the EPIC workshop-school where you will have become familiar with the basics of the profession, you will join one of the CIMO maintenance departments.
You will be required to service production installations. You will be asked to dismantle a pump, a valve, a compressor, to replace worn or defective parts and to reassemble them.
Your work will also involve carrying out preventive maintenance to avoid installation downtime.

After a few years of practice and depending on your skills, you can access positions of responsibility such as team leader, sector manager, or department head.
