Family Counsellor with Option for Head of Specialist Unit 55-80%

The Youth Family School Specialist Unit is an institution of the municipality of Rorschacherberg and the city of Rorschach, covering the areas of school social work, open youth work and family counselling.

Following the retirement of our long-standing incumbent, we are looking from 1 August 2026 or by arrangement for a committed, reflective and proactive individual for family counselling – with the possibility to take on the operational management of the specialist unit.

Family Counselling:

• Advising and supporting families in challenging life situations
• Supporting children, young people and parents in the school and social context
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with schools, social institutions and authorities
• Participation in specialist committees and active networking

Head of Specialist Unit (optional, depending on suitability and interest):

• Operational management of the Youth Family School Specialist Unit
• Leadership and development of the team
• Participation in the supervisory committee
• Strategic further development of the services together with the supervisory committee

• Completed studies in psychology or social work and solid further training in counselling
• Professional experience in the school environment and/or family counselling
• Enjoyment and experience in counselling children and parents with a migration background
• High communication and counselling competence
• Networked thinking and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration
• Knowledge / flair in handling IT applications
• For the management role: leadership experience or proven leadership potential
