Apprenticeship as Commercial Employee EFZ 2026
Your chances are good with us! The Canton of Zurich is a versatile employer committed to vocational education and offers a wide range of apprenticeships. Currently, around 110 young people are undergoing commercial training with the Canton of Zurich.
The Training
The commercial training is carried out according to a rotation system on an annual basis. This allows you to get to know three different companies, tasks, and workplace cultures of the Canton of Zurich. During your training, you will go through three different organizational units such as:
- Career counseling (biz)
- Universities of Applied Sciences / University of Zurich / University of Teacher Education
- Courts / Public Prosecutor's Offices
- Child and Youth Welfare Centers (kjz)
- Tax Office, Social Welfare Office, and Migration Office
- Road Traffic Offices and many more...
In your training, you will learn and perform a variety of administrative and organizational tasks such as providing telephone information, advising customers at the counter, or organizing events. In the inter-company courses (public administration sector), you will acquire the necessary action competencies, which you can then further develop in your work, projects, and events.

The Requirements
For the three-year basic training as a commercial employee EFZ, we expect good grades at the highest school level. You are communicative and enjoy contact with people. In addition, you have very good oral and written German skills. You are open to new things, willing to learn, and reliable. If you achieve very good results at the highest school level, you have the opportunity to complete the vocational baccalaureate in combination with the three-year basic training as a commercial employee.
