Senior Caseworker in Correctional Services 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is the largest closed correctional institution in Switzerland for male offenders, with 399 places. It stands for secure, lawful, and professional correctional services and fulfills a central mandate in the Canton of Zurich. The JVA Pöschwies is a complex institution with operations around the clock, high public attention, and a broad professional spectrum. The legal mandate of reintegration is fulfilled interdisciplinarily with modern enforcement work.
For our "Leave Management" department, we are looking for a committed, resilient, and socially competent personality as a Senior Caseworker with high personal responsibility, starting immediately or by arrangement.
Your impact with us
- Independent processing and assessment of leave and exit eligibility for prisoners in closed and open enforcement at JVA Pöschwies
- Conducting interviews with inmates regarding possibilities for easing enforcement measures
- Preparation of precise enforcement reports and clear statements on leave eligibility. Complex matters must/should be prepared in an understandable and comprehensible manner
- Verification of compliance with all conditions and requirements for approved leave and exit requests
- Close cooperation with social work, management, and referring authorities
- Active participation in shaping and further developing professional standards as well as training of accompanying persons in the area of leave & exit
Your qualifications
- Completed commercial basic training
- At least 15 years of professional experience
- Enjoyment of networked thinking and a solution-oriented working style, combined with the ability to adopt other perspectives
- High digital affinity and motivation to actively participate in projects and help shape new developments
- Confident, clear communication in German, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus
- An authentic, self-confident personality who presents themselves confidently, takes a stand, and stands by it
- A professional, discreet demeanor as well as an impeccable reputation
