The position is attached to the Diagnostic Department . Composed of nine medical services, its mission is to provide diagnoses, therapeutic products, therapeutic procedures, and specialized clinical consultations of high medical quality, within the best timeframes and at an acceptable cost, to guide patient care and contribute to therapeutic decisions and actions.
The Genetic Medicine Service is both a clinical service, with consultations, and a laboratory. It mainly deals with genetic and therapeutic counseling for patients after genetic analyses, including modern methods of cytogenetics and high-throughput sequencing. The services offered primarily ensure the diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of hereditary diseases. The service also has missions of research and teaching .
Job Description
You ensure optimal care for individuals concerned with a risk of genetic pathology based on their personal and/or family medical history.
You actively participate in delivering quality and appropriate information about the risks and probability of carrying a pathogenic genetic variant.
You ensure the proper understanding of the information conveyed during exchanges with the proposer and their entourage.
You create and develop a trusting relationship with the proposer and/or their entourage by integrating the social, psychological, cultural, legal, and ethical dimensions inherent to the genetic counseling process.
You manage personal and family data for consulting individuals, including creating patient files, creating and computerizing family trees, presenting and signing informed consent.
You also actively participate in the service's research work.
You provide genetic counseling consultations for various genetic pathologies in tandem with a geneticist or independently under their responsibility.
You collaborate with geneticists to prepare and follow up on family files: drafting reports and follow-ups, validating family history, estimating genetic pathology risks using various models, managing family trees and institutional databases and software, and maintaining contact with proposers and their families.
You are the reference person for patients and their families, providing support for multidisciplinary care and conducting rigorous follow-up. You provide genetic counseling for at-risk related individuals once the genetic variant is identified.
You conduct relevant research in medical literature, databases, and on the internet.
You work closely with other healthcare professionals and care pathway staff.
You teach and promote genetic counseling among medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
You participate in promoting the profession of genetic counselor at professional congresses or other events.
You actively participate in the service's projects and other research activities: e.g., contacting eligible individuals, collecting consents, managing sending/receiving documents, entering results into a database, regularly monitoring project progress.
You prepare result reports and publications.
You assist in developing new research projects (e.g., submission to the ethics committee).

Qualifications
You hold a Master of Health Sciences, specializing in human pathology, genetic counseling, and predictive medicine, or a Master in genetic counseling recognized or accredited by EBMG, or equivalent training. You also have one or more experiences in medical genetics.
You master the French language, both spoken and written, and are comfortable with common computer tools.
