The Bathing and Ice Facilities department, with over 350 employees, is responsible for the operation of 21 indoor and outdoor pools as well as two ice facilities.
We are looking for a committed and responsible leader as Deputy Operations Manager for the Oerlikon indoor pool from 1 April 2027 or by arrangement.
Tasks
- You support the operations management in leading and further developing the staff as well as in planning and coordinating personnel deployment. In their absence, you take over the deputy role within the scope of the delegated powers.
- You contribute to the management of the water areas as well as to the planning and coordination of maintenance and repair work.
- You share responsibility for a safe supervision service and an effective alarm organisation. In addition, you participate in the regular training and rescue exercises of the team.
- Together with the team, you take on water supervision, rescue and first aid services, guest care, water quality control, maintenance of technical equipment, cash accounting, as well as cleaning and hygiene tasks.
- You contribute to the further development and implementation of operational and safety concepts, instructions and guidelines and take on the administrative tasks assigned to you.
Profile
- Completed vocational training (EFZ or equivalent) and experience in pool operations. Initial experience in leading or professionally guiding staff is an advantage.
- Valid Swiss Pool Attendant certificate, SLRG Pro Pool certificate or recognised equivalent proof, as well as valid BLS-AED-SRC complete certification; the Pool Attendant Course (BAKU) and the specialist permit for pool water disinfection are advantageous.
- Enjoyment in dealing with guests and staff, strong service orientation, and the ability to work in a team and enforce operational rules objectively.
- Technical understanding, confident user skills in Microsoft 365, and very good German language skills in spoken and written form.
- Independent, reliable and careful working style as well as willingness to work shifts with early and late duties and to work on weekends and public holidays.

The Sports Office is a service department of the School and Sports Department of the City of Zurich. It is the competence centre for sports promotion and provides sports facilities as well as indoor and outdoor pools to the physically active population and clubs. The organisation of compulsory swimming lessons and voluntary school sports are also core tasks of the Sports Office. With targeted information, the Sports Office motivates more physical activity and advises and supports sports organisations.
