Technical Officer for Natural Hazards
Forests and Natural Hazards Office | 80-100 % | Zuoz
The Forests and Natural Hazards Office (UFP) is the cantonal specialised service for the forest and protection against natural hazards. The employees of the UFP are committed to the needs of society regarding the forest and ensure sustainable forest management.
You ensure that the Graubünden forest
- is able to protect people, animals and infrastructure,
- is a habitat for various animal and plant species,
- is a supplier of raw materials such as wood, water and energy,
- can also serve as a place of rest and recreation for people in the future.
For 1 August 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for a technical officer for natural hazards to support regional specialists in natural hazards (80-100 %).
Tasks
- Support for natural hazard specialists in the southern Graubünden region, from planning/design related to hazard assessment, risk analyses regarding opinions on building applications and verification procedures, to the implementation of expert reports and projects concerning hazard zones or emergency planning for prevention
- Independent processing of selected assignments specific to the subject or project and assessments of natural hazards such as avalanche, collapse, landslide or water
- Preparation and participation in inspections of the hazard commission, recording results for the hazard commission and preparing plans for the hazard commission
- Support for natural hazard specialists as well as regional forest engineers in managing events related to natural hazards
- Support for regional forest engineers in recording and monitoring events in the event register
- Support for the protection works specialist in operating the cantonal protection works register
What we expect from you
- Higher education (PF, university, SUP or SSS) or equivalent training corresponding to the required profile
- In-depth knowledge in the field of natural hazards, especially knowledge of processes as well as ArcGIS Pro
- Motivation, ability to work in a team and reliability
- The working language is generally German; good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
