Small and large vehicles are your world? Your training location in the central workshop of the civil engineering office of the Canton of Zurich has all variations of vehicles and trains you to become a professional in the maintenance of passenger cars.
As an automotive mechatronics technician or automotive specialist, you learn how vehicles work, ensure they are roadworthy, and are familiar with their spare parts. You maintain and repair vehicles as well as their engines, transmissions, brakes, exhaust, and lighting systems. You professionally treat the bodywork and chassis, protect them from weather influences and aging, and apply new paint. In addition, you check and maintain electronic systems, measure brakes and emissions, test fuel systems, and repair complex control units. You also check and maintain driver assistance systems, hybrid drives, and comfort systems such as ABS or airbags. You diagnose faults with computer-assisted devices, remove and install transmissions and drive shafts, and repair lifting and loading equipment on trucks.
You bring manual skills, technical understanding, and a good dose of interest in vehicles. You can communicate well orally and in writing in German, are physically resilient, and work reliably and precisely. Passing the AGVS aptitude test (Auto Trade Association Switzerland) is a prerequisite for the apprenticeship.
