At Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, our kitchen team creates unforgettable dinners, thanks to tasty cuisine and flawless organisation. As a kitchen assistant, you will play a key role in the preparation of dishes as well as in the staff canteen, where you will be a privileged contact person, in direct connection with all the hotel’s employees.
Your attention to detail and commitment will contribute to the preparation of dishes, while offering a warm welcome and quality service. You will thus have the unique opportunity to interact daily with all employees, contributing to the success of our establishment.

Summary of responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Sous-chef, the essential responsibilities and functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
General functions:
- Provide professional, caring and attentive services while assisting colleagues
- Know and apply the technical and emotional LQA standards
- Respect the department’s policies, procedures and service standards
- Comply with hygiene rules and apply HACCP standards
- Respect ergonomic work standards in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
- Be able to manage your work autonomously, always under the supervision of a superior.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned by supervisors
At the Polyglot (staff canteen):
- Serve employees who come to eat at the Polyglot
- Set up the Polyglot buffets as well as clear them away
- Collect meal vouchers from external clients
- Clean small and large equipment
- Clean the Polyglot (clean tables, empty bins, do the dishes)
- Keep the Polyglot office and equipment in good working order and clean
- Ensure that employees have the necessary plates and cutlery and that the crockery is clean
In the kitchen:
- Participate in service as well as the carving of certain dishes during a buffet or cocktail reception
- Participate in the setup of banquet buffets and their clearing
- Clean small and large equipment
- Clean cooking surfaces, roasting boards, braising pans, smoke extractors and fryers
- Clean, polish and restore chafing dishes after service
- Keep the kitchen and equipment in good working order and clean
- Ensure that cooks have the necessary plates and cutlery and that the clients’ crockery is clean
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils and equipment
- Knowledge of the French language
- Previous experience in a kitchen or as a kitchen porter is an asset
- Experience in a 4* or 5* hotel is an asset
- Apply hygiene and safety policies (HACCP)
- Particularly responsible and reliable
- Ability to work alone and in a team
- Flexibility and availability in working hours
- Good presentation, neat and conscientious
Physical requirements of the position:
The physical requirements of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Constant: standing and walking throughout the working period
- Constant: lifting and carrying loads
- Occasional: kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional: going up or down stairs and ramps
VISA REQUIREMENTS
In order to work in Switzerland, the candidate must be in possession of a Swiss work permit or be from an EU – 17 or EU -8 European country.
