The Appenzell Ausserrhoden Hospital Network, with the Herisau Acute Hospital and the AR Psychiatric Centre in Herisau, ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.
We are looking for
In the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy under the direction of Dr med univ (HR) Mirjana Vidakovic, we are seeking a Deputy Chief Physician for an 80-100% workload in the inpatient area, starting 1 July 2026 or by arrangement.
Attractive tasks
- Management of a clinical area consisting of several treatment units regarding organisational matters and processes, operational implementation of the clinic's strategic directives, ongoing review, adjustment and continuous further development of treatment offerings and quality assurance
- Ensuring psychiatric-psychotherapeutic diagnostics, treatment and care of all patients in the assigned area according to the clinic's guidelines
- Control of all patient-related correspondence as well as the maintenance of medical records including service recording
- Promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration with professionals and institutions involved in treatment
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and ethical guidelines, especially in connection with care-related placement (FU), appeals and coercive measures
- Introduction of new employees, leadership, training, supervision and qualification of directly subordinate senior physicians, psychologists and assistant doctors in the area of responsibility according to FMH and FSP guidelines
- Leading and participating in interdisciplinary meetings, reports and supervisions
- Deputising for the Chief Physician and taking on leadership tasks in the entire clinic
- Contributing to the further development of the treatment offerings of the entire clinic as well as process and project work and quality management
Therefore, we want you
- Swiss-recognised specialist qualification in psychiatry and psychotherapy
- Specialist title in geriatric psychiatry desired
- You have professional and leadership experience in psychiatry and are familiar with the environment of an inpatient setting
- Good German language skills, spoken and written
- You are an open and communicative personality and place great value on interdisciplinary collaboration
