About the job
The project is yours. From the first question to ongoing operation.
You sit with the client and listen to what isn’t working. You design the solution. You build it — data migration, interfaces, reports, automation. You implement it and show people how to work with it. And afterwards, you are the person who knows this environment.
No ticket that you pass on. No handover to another department. No specialisation in a segment where you never see what has become of it.
You are not alone because of that. The department is a team of three: everyone manages their own projects, but concepts, tricky data models and delicate migrations are reviewed together. And when you are on holiday, someone knows your clients.
We are Computer Trend, based in Basel since 1988. The CRM department has been growing for years through recommendations: foundations and non-profit organisations, cantonal offices, SMEs — many of them for over ten years. Every client works differently. You get to know them all from the inside.
What you will do with us
- Understand. You sit with the clients and find out how they really work — not how it appears in the organisational chart. From this comes a concept and an offer.
- Build. Data model, forms, rules, reports. You extract legacy data from external systems and Excel worlds, clean it and bring it structured into the new environment — with SQL and scripts, not manually.
- Connect. Newsletter dispatch, payment and donation files, accounting, specialist applications: you build the interfaces that turn double data entry into an automatic process.
- Implement. You train the users, accompany the start and are the person reachable during the first critical week.
- Develop further. Afterwards, the client remains yours. You solve the demanding cases in 2nd and 3rd level support yourself — at the root cause, not the symptom list. What repeats, you automate away.
- From the interface to management. This week the interface through which a foundation records its donations. Next week the data stock of a cantonal office from a legacy system. Then a workshop where you explain to management why the process comes before the software.
What you need to bring
- About three years with CRM or comparable business applications — implemented, customised, supported. Not just used.
- You complete projects. You keep deadlines, scope and participants together, even if the client wants something different in between.
- You support what you have built and address the root cause in case of a fault, instead of just managing it.
- SQL is your tool, not a foreign word: queries across multiple tables, preparing data, finding out why a record doesn’t look as it should.
- You work script-based — PowerShell, Python or similar — and automate instead of clicking.
- You land in a grown, half-documented data stock and find your way around.
- You speak directly with clients, from clerks to management, and translate between technical language and business language.
- You document what you build. It should not exist only in your head.
- Confident German in spoken and written form.
Nice to have but not essential
- You come from a software partner or IT service provider and know the game of handling several clients simultaneously.
- Microsoft SQL Server beyond queries: stored procedures, triggers, jobs.
- You understand invoicing, accounting or donation and membership management.
- Interfaces and APIs — REST, file imports, the usual formats.
- Reporting and evaluations for specialist departments.
- IT or commercial training with IT further education.
- English and driving licence category B.
What you get in return
- The whole project. From the first conversation to operation years later. You see what becomes of your work instead of handing it over halfway.
- Both in one role. You don’t have to choose between technology and client contact — and lose neither.
- A team of three. Responsibility does not mean a solo fight with us. Everyone manages their projects, but we go through concepts and delicate migrations together, and no one sits alone with a problem for two days.
- Thorough onboarding. Into our solutions and client environments. You don’t have to know them already.
- A growing department. You help shape how we work and with what.
- Hybrid and flexible. 80–100 %, hybrid between office and home office. Further training paid by us and time allocated for it.
- No matrix, no committees. The decision makers sit two doors down. Clients we have supported partly for twenty years — you see what your work achieves. In the heart of Basel, a few minutes from Basel SBB station.
