Job Description
Purpose of the role
The role is located within the HSE organisation at the Münchwilen site and is responsible for the professional support and further development of the Process Safety topic area as well as the technical containment strategy at the site.
The focus is on qualified advice on plant and process safety, participation in process risk analyses, definition of safety-relevant requirements in projects, and support in the further development of standards, processes and interfaces.
The role works closely with pilot plants, engineering, occupational hygiene and other HSE functions and supports the implementation of local, regional and global HSE requirements.
Tasks
- Support and further development of the Process Safety & Containment Strategy topics within the HSE organisation at the site and in coordination with regional and global HSE functions
- Conceptual development and further development of site directives, processes and interfaces in the area of Process Safety
- Support in process risk analyses, especially HAZOP or comparable methods, in close cooperation with the process safety specialists of the plants
- Qualified and practical advice on all questions of plant and process safety as well as active development and further development of the containment strategy at the site; central contact person in this specialist area
- Professional support and assistance with legally required inspections in the area of explosion protection
- Early involvement in projects to define HSE, Process Safety and containment requirements for plants, equipment, technical protective measures, operating concepts and interfaces
- Follow-up of loss-of-containment events (LOC) and process safety-related deviations including RCA, definition of measures and effectiveness control
- Participation in the creation and quality assurance of technical specifications in the area of functional safety in close cooperation with engineering
- Safety assessment and approval of technical plant changes within the framework of Management of Change (MoC) as well as support in technical reviews, commissioning and plant approvals
- Professional support during audits, inspections and official procedures
Qualifications
Your experience & skills
- Completed studies in process engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or a comparable technical field (Master or PhD preferred); at least 5 years of experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry, ideally in a complex matrix organisation
- Knowledge in the field of Process Safety and plant safety or HSE with a strong technical focus
- Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
- Independent, responsible and pragmatic working style
- Structured, analytical and solution-oriented thinking with the ability to assess technical risks understandably and derive practical measures
- Good communication skills and assertiveness
- Experience with process risk analyses such as HAZOP or comparable methods
- Knowledge in the area of explosion protection, major accident prevention, plant approvals and audits
- Experience in project management and leading projects
- Experience with containment strategies, technical barriers, ventilation and room pressure concepts would be preferred
- Knowledge in the area of functional safety (SIS) would be an advantage
- Further training in functional safety, explosion protection, as ASGS specialist or safety engineer – or willingness to undertake these
