Your tasks:

You are responsible for and shape the Master’s program in Music Education Jazz in close collaboration with the other program directors, the institute management, and the lecturers at the Jazz Institute as well as with the other institutes of the University of Music Basel
You shape the artistic, pedagogical, and organizational profile of the program and are the central contact person for the students
You further develop the curriculum, coordinate courses and assessments, and ensure the high quality of the education
You bring innovative impulses into music education and represent the program in internal university and external committees
You promote the connection between study and practice and expand cooperations with partners at home and abroad
You support and promote lecturers and assist in their further development
Optionally, you engage yourself in teaching in Core Area II (Jazz Didactics, Pedagogy Forum, Music Education Electives)

Your profile:

You have a strong artistic profile as well as a pedagogical university degree in the field of jazz and contemporary music
You bring experience in music education and university teaching
You have leadership experience and strong communication skills, which you can convincingly apply both in the team and externally
You know the educational landscape in Switzerland – from music schools through early and talent promotion to general education schools – from your own experience, are nationally and internationally networked, and engage in the discourse on the further development of jazz education
You naturally move in both current jazz and adjacent musical forms of expression, have a broad artistic experience horizon, and are open to new developments
You understand jazz education as a living field between art, didactics, and social relevance and can inspire students and colleagues for it
Excellent oral and written proficiency in German and English as well as preferably in at least one other national language complete your profile
You have a university didactic qualification or the willingness to acquire it during the first years and understand the implementation of the performance mandate of universities of applied sciences as an exciting field of activity
